“Frog Bucks” Folded Bill Sculptures by Philippe Petremant

21 Mar

1817562-2478074Today, I’m in lovely Fort Worth, Texas visiting TCU with my college-bound son.  These days, many schools issue magical cards to students loaded with their own form of currency.  Here, it is “Frog Bucks” nicknamed such after the school’s mascot, the warm and cuddly “horn frog“.  I never thought I would be charmed by a spiney amphibean but after today’s tour of the magnificent campus, I’m converted.

Artist Philippe Petremant’s folded sculptures are themselves a lesson in political science.  In this case, the mascots get a makeover anyone could love.

“Bloom” Paper Constructions by Anne Ten Donkelaar

26 Nov

I’m placing my spring bulb order today.  It is one big exercise in delayed gratification.

Anne Ten Donkelaar finds other ways to enjoy the garden.  Her meticulous cutouts are pinned to paper so that they cast gorgeous shadows below.  Fantasy arrangements.  Sumptuous!
