“Stacked” Book Sculptures by Kylie Stillman
Last night, I attended an event for “Books from Birth”, a program started in Tennessee by the incomparable Dolly Parton. Any child who applies is delivered one book per month until the age of five. What’s not to love about that?
While reading is fundamental, there are additional uses for the tomes if you ask artist Kylie Stillman. Her work tells its own story.

Years ago, I was shocked to find that many homeowners’ bookshelves were filled, not with well -thumbed tomes, but rather books purchased in bulk by an interior designer!
Books have always served a decorative purpose in the home. But as we store all of our content on electronic readers, printed and bound books will be exclusively decorative, like butter churners.
Ms. Stillman is there already.
