“Mapquest” Mixed Media by Matthew Cusick
Until very recently, I’d never lived, gone to school, nor worked more than a block from the main driving corridor of my home town. It’s tough to accept that Laura Ingalls Wilder was ten times more mobile than me.
Part of being frighteningly provincial is that I’ve never had a lot of practice reading maps. Compound this with being a female who doesn’t mind asking someone rather than figuring it out myself, and you’ve got someone who is never going to be a champion at orienteering.
The fact that Rand McNally has a melting icecube of a business is not lost on artist Matthew Cusick.

Lovely. Love the way the topography of land becomes the topography of a human face or body.
