“Check Out” Works by Janet Rickus
The “modern” grocery store, inclusive of cart and checkout, was founded by Clarence Saunders, a Tennessee entrepreneur. He called the self-serve concept the Piggly Wiggly and it proved to be a game changer. Prior to his visionary merchandising concept, packaging and brand recognition were of little importance.
Artist Janet Rickus keeps her focus on the produce aisle. Fortunately her work has a very long shelf life.
