“Double Dip” Paintings by John Evans
When my daughter Meade was 14 months old we took her on a walk at Dumbarton Oaks in Washington D.C. Lickety split she headed towards the famous Ellipse pond and took an unintentional dip. My husband Ridley went right in after her and seconds later they were safe but soaked. I can’t look at a water feature now without remembering the incident.
John Evan’s botanical pond paintings make a real splash.

It’s everyone’s hidden fear!
Hey Betsy,
I fell in a fountain in Canada throwing in a penny and making a wish… when I was aboutf 8 years old… my handbag, camera and all went in with me… wow.. I still remember that !!!!!! MA
Being from the DC area, I love the intro to this post. But, the images here are great. I don’t recall seeing a painting from this perspective, which now that I do, I can’t figure out why not as I love the feeling that you can jump right in! -Liza
