“Lake Tent” Paintings by Casey Williams
My son is spending his summer at wonderful Camp Pemigewassett in New Hampshire mercifully removed from anything beginning with “i” and ending in “pad”, “phone”,” tunes”, or “movie.” The tent which he calls home sits beside Lower Baker pond. He begins each morning with a “polar bear” swim in the cool waters. Idyllic.
Paintings by artist Casey Williams reflect the mood and make me want to do a “J” stroke.

They are photographs. He was a well known Houston photographer who used to go down to the ship channel and ride the tour boat when the light was right.
These paintings are gorgeous to me! This intermixing of blocks of sky and water is very playful and I had a ball with it myself in a recent series of small square paintings. I love Casey’s use of the the contrast of the hyperreal water — great results! and very wonderful color and texture contrasts. Very lush and juicy!
