“Nimble Thimble” Textile Sculptures by Simone Pheulpin
This morning I attempted to clean out a narrow throated carafe using a dishcloth and a shish kabob skewer. Don’t try this.
French artist Simone Pheulpin uses simple canvas tape and thousands of pins to construct these very organic sculptures. The video shown at the bottom of the post is worth watching (caveat: it is in french). You don’t need to hear the words to be mesmerized by her technique.

I think this woman’s work is incredible. Her fingers channel her vision so effortlessly. And the materials are such a surprise. From a distance the sculpture looks like plaster cast. I love it. Even the video, and I don’t speak french.
