“Up Close and Personal” Paintings by Patricia Bellan-Gillen
I often feel limited with the internet as a medium for presenting the work of so many artists. There is simply no substitute for a live viewing. Such is truly the case with paintings by Patricia Bellan-Gillen. Her work is large in scale, (won’t fit in the back of your car), and every inch is attended to with precision and addictive detail. I was fortunate enough to experience it in person at the Tinney Contemporary Gallery last winter. I filed the experience under fabulous.
[…] Pat Bellan-Gillen (Dorothy L. Stubnitz Professor of Art’s) work is included in “Flora and Fauna/Appropriation” at the Heike Pickett Gallery in Lexington, KY and in “Invitational 2011″ at the Heike Pickett Gallery in Versailles, KY through December 4. Pat was one of two printmakers from Pennsylvania to be included in The East/West Portfolio curated by Brian Kelly, director of Marais Press at the University of Louisiana. The portfolio will be exhibited around the country over the next several years. Shows begin this fall at CCSU Art Gallery, Central Connecticut University, New Britain, CT and The UCF Art Gallery at the University of Central Florida. The portfolio has been added to the collection of the University of Louisiana Art Museum and the art collection of Nicholls State University, Thibodaux, LA.
