“DreamWeaver” Works on Paper by Andrew Saftel
Some things are just iconic. Tomatoes, for example. Not just any tomatoes, but the kind grown by my friends Libby and Ben Page at their farm in Giles County, Tennessee. Libby once served them to me with buttermilk dressing and bacon pralines from Cochon Butcher in New Orleans. I’m still not over it.
Artist, Andrew Saftel plays with iconography and presents it in various forms. Collaboratively, several of his gorgeous works on paper have been translated into amazing woven pieces on the loom by Mexican master fiber artist Victoriano Servin. Two are shown below.

The transformation from drawing to woven fabric is incredibly cool.
Impressive. Character reminds me of Max from Where the Wild Things Are. Good find ArtStormer! It would be great if you had a show with “Best of ArtStormer” showing their works.
