“Everlast” Paintings by Celeste Rapone
I’ve just returned from Oaxaca, Mexico. This region is the spiritual home of the famed Dia de los Muertos which is only a few days from now. When my passport when missing hours before my return and I had to make an emergency stop in Mexico City for assistance at the American embassy, I thought it might soon be my permanent home. All’s well that ends well but I’m going to exercise more vigilance when it comes to government issued documents going forward. (Hopefully, so will my husband…ehem…)
One thing is certain, Mexico loves color. Today’s featured artist, Celeste Rapone, does as well. Her work is large in scale, bold in theme and layered with meaning. Her most recent show at Corbett vs Dempsey in Chicago was entitled “Everlast”. Her work is certainly here to stay.
