“Dye Lot” Paintings by Enrique Campuzano
As a child we always loved visiting Kuhn’s Variety Store at Easter because they sold dyed chicks and ducklings in the basement “showroom”. You could get green, pink, yellow, orange, red, or blue. The sales clerk would hand it to you in a little box. Unbelievably, this seemed perfectly normal at the time. I guess the assumption was that everyone was active in 4-H. Quite the fowl plan.
Chilean artist Enrique Campuzano makes a study of some Pantone colors in his paintings. Makes me hungry for a Peep.
While now illegal in many states, dying chicks is common practice in certain countries. The video below tells the story. I think they are adorable sans the added hues.
It’s amazing what people dream up!
Love the paintings. The chicks kind of freak me out…never heard of that before!
Colors are spectacular.
