“In the Zone” Paintings by Susan Simons
I have a section of my yard that I call the “NICU”. This is where a plant is so sick or young it has to be quarantined until ready for the public eye. It also serves as a nursing home for aging poinsettias.
Over the years I’ve learned to appreciate care-free, reliable plants that are native to my zone. For example, a forsythia may not be”exotic”, but it delivers without a lot of falderal.
Artist Susan Simons makes the simple sing with her adept use of color and form.
Exhibition, The Temple Arts Festival
Wow, I love these! It would be hard to chose just one. The reading chair is calling my name!
That forsythia painting speaks to me too.
You have a lovely painting at Brooksie Matthews house that I just admired then saw your name as the artist! What is her hand symbolizing in the work. extraordinary.
Susan has a lovely painting in The Green Show at Marnie Sheridan Gallery on the Harpeth Hall campus. Last day of the exhibit is Tuesday. Come see 40 artists interpret GREEN in a myriad of ways.
Love all. But I ADORE that forsythia painting. You are right: easy to care for, big bang, welcomes spring and in that painting lets you gaze all year year long.
