“Pimp My Ride” Ink on Mylar Pieces by Katina Huston
My godson, Lucas, turned 16; and I asked him what gift I might get him to mark the occasion. It wasn’t as if I imagined he would ask for a leather bound set of Keat’s poetry, but the answer I got did underline a generational gap. What he wanted (and by the way I got him) was a Neon Underglow LED light kit for his car. I was told I could get it on the “candy aisle” at AutoZone. Well, if you have never been, treat yourself, because it is some kind of gimcrack.
Conceptually, tricking out your ride is nothing new. The last time I did it I was buying a new banana seat for my Schwinn Sting-Ray. Artist Katina Huston is doing more than spinning her wheels in creating her wonderful pieces.
