“Cut Up” Layered Photography by Lucas Simoes

Facebook bought photo sharing site Instagram yesterday for a billion dollars. I’m sure all 13 employees at the 2-year old start up are waxing nostalgic about the early days of their company.  If you aren’t familiar, Instagram is an app for your mobile phone that allows you to overlay different moody filters on your pictures and share them across various social networks.  No revenue, no real business plan, but a wicked adoption rate.  Good times.

It took more than a push of a button for Brazilian artist Lucas Simoes to transform these photographs into something a bit more special.  Meticulously cut layers of prints create an entirely new point of view.  Worth sharing.
