“Bindings” Adhesive Installations by Rebecca Ward
Last night I attended a dinner at the special collections of the Vanderbilt University Library. Several books had fore edge paintings on them which you should read about here. The care and artistry to encase the written word is inspiring.
Artist Rebecca Ward brings new meaning to the word binding with these masterful tape webs.

Yes, I asked about the jewel bindings and they said they do have them! I really want to see them someday! xo
I was introduced to fore edge bindings when I attended Columbia Library School while rooming with Ellen. Several years ago, Ridley arranged a meeting for me with the special collections Librarian. I asked to see some of the Jewel bindings which I knew they had having worked at one time in that collection. They are a must see. Ask to see them. A lady gave her collection to Vanderbilt many years ago. I hope they were not sold??? Or buried somewhere. I was able to purchase a few FE’s in New York. In thoses days they were sleepers. Most have been purchased and taken back to England I understand from dealers.
