“Lite Brite” Creations by Airan Kang
Growing up in the 70’s, it was all the rage to have a Lite-Brite. I can still hear the song from the Hasbro commercial…”Lite Brite making things with light…Lite Brite!” Along with an Easy Bake Oven and a Sit ‘n’ Spin, it was a key component in one’s toy repertoire.
In a characteristically retro move, design maven Tory Burch actually commissioned an artist to take 2 million of those pesky bulbs to create her holiday windows last December. Poor Kate Spade felt scooped.
Artist Airan Kang sends a current through his work by encasing his favorite reads in illuminated binders. Quite the clever endeavor.

… This is NOT Lite Brite!
Aren’t they fab? I seriously do not know. I saw them in person at an art show and they are even more spectacular!
I love the effect. It almost looks like the books are on fire, or heat waves.
How on earth does he do this? He makes new books for all of them or he makes an insert and puts the old dust jacket on?
Too cool. I’m fascinated.
